ON24 Virtual Show Platform Picked by Global Crossing for Virtual Event

August 23, 2010

ON24 specializing in Web casting and virtual event solutions announced that Global Crossing a provider of IP solutions has selected the ON24 Virtual Show platform for its virtual trade show.

“Collaborate NOW!” is the name of the virtual event and it will showcase Global Crossing’s collaboration products and services, said company sources.

The virtual show will take place on Sept. 1 and is expected to feature presentations on emerging collaboration services and other methodologies for increasing productivity. Also the event will include a live keynote on latest business video applications. The keynote address will be given by Henry Dewing, principal analyst with independent research firm Forrester Research, Inc.

Debra Swann, Global Crossing’s vice president of Marketing said, “We are excited to host this virtual event with ON24.”

“The ‘Collaborate NOW!’ event will showcase the latest offers from our collaboration solutions as well as highlight the significant value this venue offers our customers. Unlike a traditional trade show, our online event allows participants to attend without leaving their homes or offices and experience firsthand the benefits of zero travel costs, improved productivity, and so much more,” Swann added.

Denise Persson, CMO of ON24 explained that the timing for Global Crossing’s virtual show is in step with the growth witnessed in the virtual event market and more advancement in the technology behind it. ON24’s conducted a market survey of 10,000 international executives recently which revealed more favor towards adoption of virtual communication solutions.

The survey result showed that 87 percent of the respondents, from different industries, are either already using or planning to use virtual environments for all types of corporate applications.

There is expected to be an increase in virtual events when compared to physical ones. About one-third of the respondents predicted a reduction of in-person training, management and other internal events. This will be down by 20-40 percent while physical sales kick-off meetings will be down by 35 percent, said ON24 sources.

Global Crossing and ON24 are already working together to expand the videoconferencing experience offered to Global Crossing customers. The company is using ON24’s Webcast Center platform and Virtual Show solution to support its suite of videoconferencing collaboration services to enable its customers to leverage the interactive tool to reach global audiences.

“Collaborate NOW!” will be presented on Sept. 1 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. EDT. The content will be made available on demand for up to 90 days after the event.
