UC Week in Review

It was a busy week in the Unified Communications (UC) sector this past week. Here are some of the highlights:

Polycom, Inc., a major player in telepresence, video, and voice communications solutions, has announced enhancements to its visual communications infrastructure solution, the Polycom UC Intelligent Core, enabling customers to connect the most people, both inside and outside their organization.

AdriaComm, LLC, has launched online meeting software, ICUNOW, free for end-users who want to utilize the Internet for videoconferencing and web conferencing, but find Skype limited in its offering and taxing of computer resources.

A five-year contract to provide SingleLink Unified Communications throughout Mankato Area Public Schools has been awarded to HickoryTech Corporation.

Cisco WebEx Meeting Center has been selected by TalktoCanada.com to deliver full-service, online English language education to students anywhere in the world.

LifeSize Communications, a dealer in high definition video communications and telepresence, announced that enterprises can now work together more efficiently and IT departments can enjoy more robust deployment and management capabilities from its newly unveiled high-definition videoconferencing offerings and product enhancements.

That's a summary of the events in the UC sector for the week.
