Polycom Expands Telepresence Solution Portfolio

Polycom, Inc., a provider of telepresence, video, and voice solutions and a visionary in communications that empower people to connect and collaborate everywhere, extended the broad telepresence solution portfolio in the industry with the Polycom Open Telepresence Experience (OTX) 300.


The Polycom Open Telepresence Experience (OTX) 300 is a vast telepresence solution that provides true-to-life collaborations. It has full 1080p video, with up to half the bandwidth of similar systems. It also offers the lowest total cost of ownership to drive customers with a quick return of investment.


Andrew Miller, the president and chief executive officer at Polycom, Inc., stated that Polycom telepresence helps customers deal with the growing critical challence of working across numerous locations. Polycom customers can save millions of dollars annually using telepresence by enhancing productivity and lessening the need to travel. Polycom calculates that a mid-sized enterprise will spend up to $2.1M less in the first year of a normal Polycom telepresence deployment when measured against a similar deployment from Cisco. This includes bandwidth, equipment, maintenance and services.


The Polycom OTX 300 helps in lowering expenses. It supports high-definition (HD) video by the use of up to 50 percent less bandwidth than contending solution via the implementation of Polycom's H.264 High Profile.


The H.264 High Profile is a compelling new standards-based video compression technology that's available only from Polycom. It lessens the expenses of network bandwidth needed for telepresence. The technology can also help businesses expand their video deployment dramatically without the need to spend on large-scale network upgrades.


Simon Hunt, the global product director of video communications at Regus Plc, a large provider of workplace solutions, said that Polycom is helping them change the way they operate. It allows their customers and employees to work together more efficiently across distances and time zones.


Hunt added the positive impact of Polycom on the business, the customer-focused approach and persistent innovation by the use of developments such as Polycom OTX and H.264 High Profile are only a few reasons why Polycom stays an important business partner of Regus Plc.


Polycom was in news recently for strengthening UC collaboration with Avaya while enhancing go-to-market strategy.
