January 19, 2010

ScanSource Communications, a value-added distributor of communications products and a sales unit of ScanSource, Inc., has entered into an agreement with IBM and ShoreTel to distribute an integrated unified communications solution.

ScanSource Communications plans to offer the total UC solution, named ShoreTel for IBM Lotus Foundations, to its reseller partners.
According to ScanSource officials, the solution includes the IBM Lotus Foundations Reach, an appliance designed for small to medium businesses that customizes and extends IBM Lotus Sametime's UC and collaboration capabilities, as well as the ShoreTel UC products.
Company officials said that by implementing this UC solution in the workplace, end users can better access people and information, improving productivity and efficiency.
“We’re excited to work with two pioneers in the IT and communications industry,” said Buck Baker, president of ScanSource Communications, in a statement. “Their innovation and leadership in developing high-quality solutions will enable our resellers to deliver comprehensive UC solutions to their end-user customers.”
Mark Arman, vice president of business development for ShoreTel, said that ShoreTel for IBM Lotus Foundations offers SMBs a world where IT and business communication come together in a simple, affordable and feature-rich solution. This solution is fully integrated and serviced by world-class partners, he said.
“ShoreTel is delighted to have ScanSource Communications join our ecosystem of partners enabling the delivery of this solution to the market. With ScanSource Communications’ unique breadth of expertise and international presence, we have untangled business complexity,” Arman said.
He said that solution resellers will have the opportunity to obtain all the components of the innovative solution from a single source.
ScanSource, Inc., is an international distributor of specialty technology products, consisting of seven sales units in North America, Latin America and Europe.

ScanSource POS and Barcoding in North America, Latin America and Europe delivers AIDC and POS solutions. Catalyst Telecom in the U.S., and ScanSource Communications in North America and Europe, provide voice, video and converged communications equipment. Lastly, ScanSource Security in North America offers physical security solutions.

Earlier this month ScanSource POS & Barcoding, a international value-added distributor of automatic identification and data capture and point-of-sale solutions and services and sales unit of ScanSource, Inc., signed a distribution agreement in North America with Fujitsu America, Inc., a provider of IT-based business solutions for the global marketplace.
Through this agreement, ScanSource will be offering its reseller customers the Fujitsu TeamPoS family of point-of-sale terminals and peripherals.
Fujitsu TeamPoS terminals enable mission-critical applications, such as loyalty and customer relationship management, while delivering remote manageability and a space-saving footprint.
