ADTRAN Debuts NetVanta UC Options

ADTRAN, a Huntsville, Ala.-based supplier of converged communication solutions, today unveiled four new options for the united communications market.

The so-called “NetVanta Unified Communications Solution Suite,” offers voicemail, unified messaging, fax server, as well as auto attendant services. And according to company officials, the new products offer users flexibility and the chance to operate with existing equipment. 

The new line is well suited for businesses of all sizes. It can also be customized for the individual users, ADTRAN officials said.
“It’s not just for big businesses,” Chris Thompson, ADTRAN’s senior product manager for enterprise voice products, said, who spoke about the launch at a PR event at the company’s headquarters this month.
In addition, the UC services can help companies interested in investing in a new PBX system or add UC capabilities to an existing PBX, Thompson said.
The NetVanta UC suite, shown at left, includes:
* The NetVanta UC Server, a solution designed for businesses and enterprises with an existing PBX. This option lets customers use their investment in legacy business communications systems and transition to IP telephony at their own pace. The software application works with Microsoft Windows platforms and can handle up to 2,000 or more users per server.
* NetVanta Business Communications System, which blends the NetVanta 7000 Series IP-PBXs with the NetVanta UC Server and additional features, including click-to-dial capabilities and an integrated conference server. This offers an innovative, cost-effective Voice over IP and UC service to help businesses simplify the migration to VoIP and eliminate complicated network assessments and interoperability issues. It supports up to 100 users per platform and is designed for new installations.
 * NetVanta Enterprise Communications Server, offers IP-based voice and Unified Communications system for larger enterprises. It scales from five to more than 2,000 users on a single server. Intended for use with Microsoft Windows and Active Directory, the SIP-based platform IP-PBX comes with the UC features of NetVanta UC Server, including click-to-dial, an integrated conference server and a paging server for overhead paging.
* NetVanta Business Application Server, a product that helps users and businesses easily implement communications-oriented business process automation. The Microsoft Windows-based software solution is scalable to more than 200 concurrent calls and lets businesses of all sizes implement cost-effective Communications Enabled Business Processes.
As an example, the software can be used to help notify parents of a snow day, Thompson said.
“This is a piece that ties businesses process together to allow for a more efficient, timely response,” Thompson said. “It allows you to do things you can’t do normally because you don’t have the staff.”
The company's entrance into the UC market comes in part of customer demand, ADTRAN officials said.
“As businesses look to streamline their operations, they are looking for ways to increase productivity and reduce costs while preserving a high level of customer satisfaction - the NetVanta UC solution suite uniquely allows them to meet these objectives,” Tim Saunders, vice president of product management, ADTRAN Enterprise Networks Division, said in a statement. “ADTRAN's NetVanta UC solutions are flexible and customizable to address the specific needs of each business and individual user. These solutions allow businesses, regardless of size, to streamline business operations, improve communications, increase productivity and reduce costs.”
And if analysts’ predictions are correct, the UC market will continue to flourish.
