The modern executive is on the move, no longer chained to a desk, but must remain in contact with colleagues. As such, communication providers are addressing this shift by developing mobile collaboration and communications solutions, with a key enabler of this growing trend being the cloud.

Canada will have the chance to see this firsthand, as today TELUS (News - Alert) and RingCentral announced a newly expanded portfolio of cloud communications solutions aimed at addressing mobility. TELUS Business Connect Mobile, the new cloud-based offering, puts the power of an enterprise-grade PBX (News - Alert) in the palm of user hands. As a result, the call for a landline or costly on-premises equipment is alleviated.

“TELUS Business Connect Mobile harnesses the power of mobility and the capacity of the cloud to make professional call handling affordable for Canadian businesses of any size,” said Craig Thornton, vice-president Business Mobility Solutions for TELUS. “Through our collaboration with RingCentral (News - Alert), we're helping businesses empower their mobile workforces while driving agility and cost savings.”

Directed toward driving productivity, the solution is feature-rich. Offering call routing and call forwarding, a dedicated business phone and toll-free number, auto-attendant with custom greeting, the TELUS Business Connect Mobile requires minimal effort to deploy, and provides a self-service Web portal for adjustments to be made at any time.

Powered by RingCentral, TELUS Business Connect solutions span from entry level, to standard and premium offerings that include voice, video and audio conferencing as well as additional applications for smartphones, desktops, desk phones, tablets and other devices.

“Mobile ubiquity is fueling demand among businesses to untether employees and empower them to work from any location using their mobile devices for all business communication needs,” said Marty Piombo, vice president of strategic partnerships for RingCentral. “We're pleased to expand our relationship with TELUS and be one of their premier cloud communications solution partners. Together, we're enabling businesses to be efficiently connected with their customers, partners and peers.”

The cloud is pushing the boundary of communications solutions, adding flexibility and cutting on cost. With mobility being a key component of modern communications, the cloud is ushering in a new era of collaboration.
