Unified Communications Week in Review: Fusion, Tata Communications, Frontier & More

June 17, 2017

Welcome back to the week in review, where we take a look at all the top stories making headlines in Unified Communications this week.

The week started off with the news that Fusion has teamed up with XComIP to create Fusion Global Services, LLC, which is aimed at providing carriers with voice services globally. XComIP CEO Jay Adams will be at the helm of the newly formed entity, with sights set on leveraging each provider’s strengths to serve the global carrier community. TMC’s Maurice Nagle has everything you need to know HERE.

Next up, we looked at another pairing, as Tata Communications has decided to use Alibaba Cloud’s Express Connect platform. As a result of this move by Tata, customers in more than 150 countries will be able to connect to the platform via Tata’s IZO Private Connect service. Consequently, that connectivity will enable enterprises to scale their cloud connectivity and rapidly provision their Alibaba Cloud capacity. Paula Bernier’s full coverage is HERE.

Frontier Communications also made headlines this week when it was named Mitel’s Top U.S. Partner for the sixth year in a row. The partnership between Mitel and Frontier Communications goes back 27 years and, as an authorized partner, Frontier has been providing Mitel's comprehensive communications solutions to its customers for years. It seems as though the two companies lean heavily on each other for success; you can find out how HERE.

Finally, the week rounded out with news from a company that we all thought was old news. BlackBerry is showing its ability to persevere, despite the odds, by throwing its hat into the UC ring. The company has just introduced its new BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) Enterprise software development kit (SDK). The offering just recently broke out of beta and now has its sights set on both Android and iOS. Find out what this could mean for the future of communications HERE.

That’s all for this week. Come back next week to read all the latest news in the Unified Communications space.
