Unified Communications Week in Review: Broadvoice, Mitel, PanTerra Networks & Jive

May 13, 2017

Welcome back to the week in review, where we take a look at all the top stories making headlines in Unified Communications this week.

The week started off with the news that Broadvoice has entered into a strategic partnership with Telecom Consulting Group (TCG) to expand its market share and product offering. As TMC’s Andrew Bindelglass points out, “This partnership will allow TCG to sell Broadvoice solutions to their portfolio of over 2,200 potential buyers, giving the UC solutions provider an avenue to further penetrate into their desired markets. In return, TCG will receive a portion of royalties for each sale that is brokered.” You can keep reading about the potential this partnership has HERE.

Mitel also made a few headlines this week. On Tuesday it was announced that the company has officially surpassed three million cloud subscribers, which is quite the accomplishment. “Businesses around the world are turning to cloud communications to seamlessly connect their workforces, enhance customer service and simplify IT management,” said Jon Briton, Executive Vice President and head of the Cloud Division at Mitel. “Mitel delivers the stability and expertise to provide them a better path forward to hybrid and pure cloud solutions at a pace that’s right for them and with the assurance their investment is futureproof.” Everything you need to know about this accomplishment is HERE.

Mitel also announced this week that it will become the happy recipient of certain Toshiba assets. Toshiba announced plans earlier this year to get out of the unified communications systems business, and has now signed a memorandum of understanding with Mitel to ensure the transfer of certain assets to Mitel. The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but you can learn more about it, as well as other shake-ups in the UC space, HERE.

Finally, this week TMC’s Steve Anderson took a look at the overall UC market, which has been seeing quite a few changes lately. Between acquisitions, funding and product releases, there’s always something new happening in the space. For instance, ESW Capital is set to acquire Jive, and PanTerra Networks recently released a new UC cloud service known as Streams. Anderson’s full industry recap is HERE.

That’s all for this week. Come back next week to read all the latest news in the Unified Communications space.
