Wheelings & Dealings: ScanSource Acquires KBZ to Enhance Distribution of Cisco Products
ScanSource, Inc., a distributor of specialty technology products such as point-of-sale, communications and physical security solutions, recently completed its acquisition of KBZ, a premier Cisco Authorized Distributor that specializes in video, Web conferencing, unified communications (UC) and collaboration solutions. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
KBZ has focused on the distribution of technologies from Cisco and complementary vendors since 2009, when it was acquired by Cisco. Before that it was Tandberg’s largest distributor since the company’s establishment in 1987. KBZ, which currently employs approximately 75 people, was named the Cisco Americas Collaboration Distributor of the Year in 2014 and Cisco Americas Cloud Distributor of the Year in 2015.
As a result of the acquisition, ScanSource will be able to greatly enhance its expertise and capabilities regarding Cisco solutions. The combination of both distributor’s assets will enable a much more robust portfolio of products, solutions and services, while KBZ’s specialized public sector team will help ScanSource better serve all levels of government customers. This pooling of assets while retaining the individual identities of both companies will help build a symbiotic relationship that enables more success for each as well as the newly unified customer base.
“We are very pleased to have KBZ as a part of the ScanSource team,” commented Mike Baur, CEO of ScanSource. “With the sharing of our value-added services, best practices, ideas and opportunities, we will be able to offer better programs and more support to our partners.”
“We have a very special team of hard-working, dedicated, passionate people who love the technology and who go above and beyond every day for Cisco and our customers,” said Kyle Zorzi, Vice President of KBZ. “I look forward to continuing our commitment to Cisco and our customers under ScanSource, as I believe they are the perfect fit for KBZ.”
Under the terms of the agreement, Zorzi and the company’s approximately 75 employees will join ScanSource. Zorzi will be appointed to the position of Senior Vice President of KBZ, a ScanSource company, and report to ScanSource Security President Tony Sorrentino.
