Applied Voice & Speech Technologies, Inc. (AVST (News - Alert)) announced today that it has been selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers to provide unified communications for team personnel. The private software company will deliver unified messaging, voicemail, Atom personal assistant, mobile client, speech-enables automated attendant and more for the Steelers at the team's corporate offices and training facility. The installation was performed by Dagostino Electronic Services Inc., a Pittsburgh-based company and preferred technology provider for the Steelers.

When asked about the choice to go with AVST, Ryan Huzjak, director of partnerships and sales for the Pittsburgh Steelers said, "The selection of AVST was an easy decision based on its 30-year history, track record of success and strong recommendation by Dagostino Electronic Services. Having access to AVST's mobility enhancements was a big plus. In the future, we plan to roll out unified messaging, personal assistant to manage business communications while on-the-go, and secure access to messages on a mobile client."

The company's platform hopes to offer several off-the-field victories for the Steelers, as well as enhance mobility and increase productivity for the team. "They are a first-rate franchise, and we are thrilled to be working with them. The team has a winning reputation -- with eight Super Bowl appearances in the books,” said Denny Michael (News - Alert), AVST's vice president of marketing. “We look forward to helping the organization by delivering even greater staff productivity and fan experience through our solutions."

AVST is a leading company in unified communications, specializing in developing business-level communications solutions that focus on enterprise, government, healthcare markets, and higher education. The company is successful in achieving interoperability, by connecting new and existing technologies to multiple locations instead of using a traditional connection to a single vendor. The company is known for its primary product CX-E (formerly CallXpress), a speech-enabled unified communications platform. It offers call processing, unified messaging, voicemail, personal assistant, fax, speech and notification capabilities.

Unified Communications (News - Alert) allows an individual to send and receive messages from one communication medium to another freely and effectively. For example, you can receive a voicemail message and choose to open it via email or cell phone. As many business leaders now, communication plays a key role in leading a successful and productive company. This is no different in the National Football League (NFL), where competition is fierce and exercising any possible advantage is necessary to succeed. The deal is also beneficial to the Pittsburgh economy because two large companies in the city were involved in the process. The Steelers hope that this successful move off-the-field will lead to even greater achievements on the field this upcoming season.
