Wheeling & Dealings: BroadSoft to Enter German Market Through finocom Acquisition
BroadSoft has further extended its BroadCloud unified communications (UC) services in Germany by finalizing the acquisition of finocom AG, itself a provider of cloud-delivered UC services. With Germany representing Europe’s largest economy — it boasts over 3.6 million companies and an annual telecommunications spend of over 60 billion Euros, according to BroadSoft — doubling down there is obviously a big move.
Meanwhile, enterprises in the country are starting to shift from premises-based to cloud-delivered unified communications at a rapid pace, so now is definitely the time to establish a presence there. With finocom, BroadSoft has an even better chance of doing this as it will leverage the company’s cloud service expertise to smooth the market transition and introduction of BroadCloud UC into Germany.
This seems to be standard operating procedure for BroadSoft lately as the company expanded its BroadCloud presence in the U.K. recently with theacquisition of HIPCOM.
"We are excited by the growing demand for our BroadCloud capabilities throughout Europe. With the addition of finocom, we have significantly increased investment in our cloud infrastructure in order to bring BroadCloud to Germany initially and, longer term, throughout Eastern Europe," said Michael Tessler, chief executive officer of BroadSoft, in a statement. "We are thrilled to have such an experienced senior executive team join us to scale our European operations. This team will ensure we are enabling service providers to quickly and cost effectively offer their enterprise customers a comprehensive UC solution."
BroadCloud is a managed service that offers white label unified communications capabilities that can be easily taken to market by service providers. In particular, the offering helps accelerate time to market, in turn speeding up time to revenue, while reducing infrastructure and ongoing support costs.
As part of the acquisition, finocom’s employees will join BroadSoft’s ever-expanding European team.
