With the presidential elections round the corner, an undercurrent of subdued excitement throngs the corridors of convention halls, newspaper offices and even video chat services.

This is rather significant for Paltalk (News - Alert), the reputed video chat service, which has had a finger on the pulse of the conventions for the third year running. Gary Baumgarten, news and programming director at Paltalk, will go live each day from 5 PM EST until the final gavel at the Republican and Democratic national conventions.

Paltalk, which has a long history of technical innovation, has something special lined up for its members, the ability to ask questions and interact with participants at the conventions.

And, this was what happened at the GOP convention held August 28-30 in Tampa, Florida and what members can expect at the Democratic convention from September 4-6 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Even though others are covering the conventions, Baumgarten noted that Paltalk was the best way to experience them because it had the ability to bring events to members in a unique way.

To be a part of the September convention, members need to go to the "US Election Central 2012" room at the Paltalk website.

Since its launch in 1998, the Paltalk platform has grown considerably and powers the largest collection of video-based communities. It now boasts millions of active members with nearly 100,000 people being able to engage in lively dialogues in its chatting rooms.

Paltalk owns 16 patents that cover core technology related to multiplayer online video games and video conferencing. Paltalk supports IM pals on social media networks, Google (News - Alert) Talk and others. It is available as a free download.

Paltalk, a company offering software and technology for real-time, rich media, interactive social networking, has rolled out Firetalk version 1.4, a free VoIP application that allows , iPod touch, and iPad (iOS 4.0 or later ) users to make free calls or send free text messages to many locations worldwide.
