AVST Announces Launch of CallXpress 8.2, the Latest Version of Its Flagship UC Solution

November 08, 2011

CallXpress 8.2, the latest version of Applied Voice & Speech Technologies, Inc. (AVST’s) flagship Unified Communications (UC) solution, was recently announced. This updated version comes with AVST Mobile for CallXpress and adds to the personal assistant abilities of CallXpress. With this addition, it makes CallXpress accessible on almost all popular smartphones, even Android and iPhone. CallXpress 8.2 can also act as an Intelligent Gateway for those who want to integrate Microsoft OCS / Lync and their current telephony infrastructure.

The Intelligent Gateway provides several advantages without necessitating additional client software on users' workstations. Some of these advantages are enhancing the instant messaging as well as presence capabilities that are provided by the OCS/Lync client allowing it to be used as a softphone for the PBX. Incoming calls can be routed to the user’s OCS/Lync client. It also allows for outbound calls from OCS/Lync to the PSTN

In a release, Tom Minifie, AVST's Chief Technology Officer,  said, "Today's highly mobile workforce requires anytime-anywhere communications in order to stay connected and productive, and the smartphone has played a key role in redefining 'work' as a thing you do, rather than a place you go. AVST Mobile enables smartphone users to manage both their personal and business communications on the same device -- all while ensuring the security of their business data."

AVST Mobile and CallXpress together enhance personal productivity by facilitating a native client on Android and iPhone smartphones. With the power of managing incoming and outgoing calls and voice based messages, you can separate your personal phone calls from those that are business related. All calls routed through CallXpress have their mobile numbers protected thereby safeguarding privacy. With a single number reach facility, one can touch base with the user at any point through one voicemail box and phone number. It has the ability to provide visual call screening allowing the user to handle the call the way he see fit. Easy to use settings management allows for quick switches between availability and call management features.

Jim Burton, Founder and CEO of CT Link and Co-Founder of UCStrategies.com, said, "AVST has found a solution to Telecom Your Lync. Customers today want to keep their robust telephony infrastructure in place, but are still looking at how to facilitate the introduction of Lync into their voice landscape."
