Mitel Announces Availability of Its Unified Communicator Advanced Software for Apple iPhone and iPad

Mitel, provider of unified communications software solutions, announced that it’s Unified Communicator (UC) Advanced software has been made available for Apple iPhones and iPads on the iOS mobile operating system. Apple iPhones and iPads are a device of choice for most Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). With its latest offering, Mitel has successfully expanded the application use of its unified communications platform on mobile devices. The availability of the UC platform for iOS devices makes it easy for IT managers to address security concerns native to the BYOD phenomenon; a movement under which workers in an organization can bring and use their personal mobile devices at the workplace.

In a release, Matthew J. Estes, director of Strategic Initiatives, TaxResources, Inc., said, "Mitel Unified Communicator Advanced for iPhone and iPad, in combination with the Freedom architecture, allowed our employees and our IT department to utilize our existing infrastructure and devices of choice without having to purchase new equipment. The product's flexibility and functionality were key factors in our decision to go with Mitel for our customized unified communications solution at TaxResources."

IT teams across most business enterprises are faced with security and management challenges; the BYOD movement is one among those. However, by deploying the unified communications open architecture offering across the iOS devices and mobile devices platforms, IT managers and teams will find dealing with such security and management concerns within the enterprise easier. Based on Mitel's Freedom architecture, the UC platform has been designed with an advanced communications infrastructure which allows IT personnel to extend unified communications applications to mobile clients using iOS or RIM- and Android-based mobile devices.

Mitel's UC Advanced has been designed with a single interface which makes it easy for users either with desktops or mobile devices to access the entire suite of capabilities provided by Mitel communications. These include voice and instant messaging as well as video, conferencing and presence.

Ron Wellard, executive vice president and general manager, Mitel Communications Solutions, said that, "We recognize that delivering unified communications software to the iOS platform for Apple products is essential to our customers. The BYOD phenomenon is one companies can't ignore. By supplying a single software stream that works on the most popular mobile platforms and offering exceptional adaptability to existing infrastructure within an organization, Mitel aims to change the game in unified communications software."

Functionalities designed into the Mitel UC Advanced Mobile for iOS include option to carry out searches on the corporate directory as well as making calls to contacts across the enterprise network via click-to-dial from the corporate contact list. Users can view history of calls including missed, dialled, and received calls. Additionally, users will be able to access visual voicemail from their office extension and prioritise their messages as per their preference. Mitel UC Advanced Mobile for iOS also enables automatic updates status and delivers options for call routing according based on the users preference.
