FeedHenry Intros Unified Social Web and Mobile Application Platform

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

FeedHenry has announced that it is launching the first unified social Web and mobile application platform.

The company said that this latest solution will solve the market problem of cell phone fragmentation for applications. With this platform, developers can create one version of an application and have it run across multiple mobile phones, said company officials.

In addition, users can access the same application on their mobile devices, and also on social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace (News - Alert).

“With the Unified Social Web and Mobile Application Platform, FeedHenry solves the market problem carriers and developers face in having to create multiple versions of an application for each mobile phone - it heralds a new way of delivering content to end users,” said Barry Downes (News - Alert), CEO at FeedHenry, in a statement.

FeedHenry has also announced partnership with AskMoby to launch an interactive weather application that offers users customized weather reports. Company officials said that it’s available as a mobile application and also as a social web application.

The application from FeedHenry allows the same mobile application to be used from social web sites such as Facebook (News - Alert), and also to be installed as a desktop application, said company officials.

The AskMoby’s weather application enables users to access custom weather reports for golfing, surfing and sailing, and get up-to-date access on weather conditions customized specifically for each sport.

Service providers such as AskMoby can create their applications using standard web technologies such as HTML. Company officials said that with FeedHenry’s (News - Alert) platform, they can avoid the high cost of rebuilding its weather application for each destination.

Mark White, CEO at AskMoby, said that AskMoby’s weather app provides weather forecasts within an interactive map for weather information specifically tailored to users’ hobbies, and is designed for both web and mobile web browsing.

“Working with FeedHenry now brings the benefits of this innovative service out to end users who can integrate it into their social content,” he added.

This year in October, eedHenry and eircom rolled out the first telco Web 2.0 Personal Services Portal (PSP) “my eircom.”
