Sybase, a dealer in mobile device management enterprise software, asserted that they have released a new version of their Afaria upgraded with advanced enterprise device management and security features for Android (News - Alert) and iOS 4.

Afaria is a mobile device management and security product that can be used to ensure mobile data and devices are up-to-date, reliable, secure and encrypted. Afaria provides users with a single administrative console to centrally manage, secure and deploy mobile data, applications and devices.

The new version of Android and iOS 4 features new functionalities that can enable enterprise IT to fully manage and secure the proliferation of personal and corporate smartphones and tablets from a single console, meeting strict corporate security standards. The solution’s over-the-air delivery of in-house, market and App Store developed application can blend with the client-side portal technology to authorize only approve mobile users to access internal applications and data and at the same time offering a simplified and streamlined user experience.

Marcus Hacke, senior VP responsible for mobile enterprise services at T-Systems (News - Alert), commented in a press release that through their partnership with Sybase (News - Alert) and SAP, they are providing game-changing managed mobility services with proven business value. The company’s customer base will significantly benefit from Afaria’s enhanced security and expanded support for Android and iOS 4. The new Afaria client portal technology and over-the-air deployment capabilities will further transform managed mobility solutions and better enable employee productivity and connectivity to customers.

Willie Jow, VP of mobility marketing at Sybase, added that the demand to secure today’s leading smartphones and tablets and closely manage access to enterprise applications has never been greater. The addition of over-the-air application distribution for Android and iOS 4 in Afaria enables customers to easily deploy enterprise resources to the largest device populations. By providing a revolutionary client-side portal that delivers a store-like environment for in-house, market and App Store applications, Afaria transforms the mobile user experience.

The new version apart from supporting iOS and Android also supports Windows Mobile, Symbian (News - Alert) and RIM BlackBerry devices.
