NET Upgrades to Microsoft Dynamics AX2009 for High Tech

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Network Equipment Technologies (News - Alert) (NET) has upgraded to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 for High Tech with Fullscope.

NET provides network and VoIP solutions to enterprises and also government agencies.
Fullscope is a Microsoft (News - Alert) Dynamics AX Partner and it offers domain expertise to companies with process, discrete and hybrid manufacturing operations. It develops and supports Process Industries for Microsoft Dynamics AX.
The upgrade process also included migration of Quintum (News - Alert) Technologies, a VoIP innovator acquired by NET. The upgrade was made to leverage Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009’s capabilities which include enhanced reporting, business intelligence, production planning and support for integration with contract manufacturers.

”We budgeted more than $200,000 in consulting services and expected the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 project to last about five months,” said Carmel Wynkoop, director of information technology for NET (News - Alert). “We were delighted when three in-house developers were able to do most of the upgrade themselves, including modifications and migration of the new division, in three months, incurring outside consulting costs of less than $38,000.”

NET implemented Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 earlier for streamlining sales transactions and financial systems. It also improves processes with supply chain and contract manufacturing facilities.
Microsoft Dynamics AX has simplified sales order processes related to complex communications products for NET. Its flexible product configuration greatly streamlined derivative part numbers and also reduced sales order data entry time.
Wynkoop noted that this upgrade was made to keep pace with the changing global scenario. Microsoft Dynamics AX for High Tech is suitable for automated and accurate compliance with government regulations like Sarbanes-Oxley. The company’s experience of dealing with government agencies enabled it to build a contracts appliance module facilitating an easy acquisition process regarding Quintum.
Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 helps manage data from Microsoft SQL Server on desktop applications like MS Office Excel and MS Office Word.
NET provides network and VoIP solutions which bring down deployment cost for next generation unified and secure communications applications. NET delivers solutions required by multi-service networks for greater versatility, security and performance.
NET products allow interoperability and integration with existing networks for migrating to IP-based communications. Quintum Technologies a part of NET now, provides applications which enhance the reliability and clarity of public telephone networks to Internet telephony and unified communications.
Microsoft executives will sponsor a free multi-session Response Point Seminar at Technology Marketing Corporation’s (TMC) ITEXPO (News - Alert) East 2009 designed to help VARs and Agents identify business opportunities associated with Response Point.
Registration for ITEXPO is now open at www.itexpo.com. Admission to Microsoft’s Response Point Solution Seminar is free for all ITEXPO attendees.
