Major networking equipment and management supplier, Cisco Systems has announced it will be holding a free virtual workshop to teach application developers, network and IT solutions architects about its new application development and hosting platform, the Application Extension Platform (AXP).
The Cisco (News - Alert) AXP offers a standards-based Linux hosting environment within the Cisco ISR router. It consists of an Application Runtime Network (APPRE) Module, which is a blade hosted within the Cisco 2800 and 3800 Series ISRs, and the Cisco AXP software (hardened Linux OS).
In addition, the Cisco AXP provides the ability or end-users, third-party system integrators, managed service providers and ISVs to integrate custom services into the Cisco ISR.
To help enterprises take advantage of the full benefits of unified communications (UC), the Cisco AXP was integrated in April with Sagem-Interstar’s XMediusFAX Fax over IP (FoIP)
XMediusFAX is a highly cost-effective, secure, and reliable IP fax server solution that has dominated the global FoIP market since 2002.
As the world’s first and only fax solution to operate inside a Cisco Integrated Services Router (ISR), the Cisco AXP–XMediusFAX Fax over IP (FoIP) solution is a vital and cost-effective part of a complete UC strategy.
To learn more about the benefits of the Cisco AXP, please join TechWise TV host, Jimmy Ray Purser, and other Cisco experts on Monday, February 2nd, 2009, at 8 a.m. PST in a free virtual workshop. Together they will discuss developing applications on the Cisco AXP and answer questions in a live Q&A session.
Cisco customers and partners interested in learning more about application development and hosting solutions on the Cisco Integrated Services Router via Cisco AXP will benefit from this event.
Interested parties can listen and watch via the Internet live at:

There is no RSVP or registration required to attend the free virtual workshop.
If you are unable to participate on February 2nd, a video-on-demand replay of the Cisco virtual workshop will be available on the Cisco Innovation blog after 5 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2009.
