DVE's Immersion Room to be introduced at 'Telepresence Product of the Year Award'

By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor

An announcement was made by Digital Video Enterprises, Inc. also known as DVE, that it will be welcoming pre-registered media to experience the Immersion Room at DVE’s “Tour of Telepresence” showroom in Irvine, Calif. Winner of the Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) “2009 Global Conferencing Telepresence Product of the Year Award”, the Immersion Room is the ultimate videoconferencing, displaying HD 3D holographic-appearing images of people in the middle of a luxury meeting room.  This will be the first time that the print, web and broadcast media have been invited to participate in the experience.

According to the co-founder of DVE, Jeffrey Machtig, the conferencing industry has actually witnessed little innovation in the past decade except for the advancement of HD. Telepresence (News - Alert) is taken to the next-level by DVE. The company delivers an experience which is beyond competition. He added that the ultra-realism provides filmmakers and science fiction writers have only imagined.

TVs side-by-side has been promoted by Cisco (News - Alert) in the past years. However, true immersion is not provided by these older systems. The older systems also do not provide a hidden eye-level camera placement for a natural eye contact experience. An experience with unparalleled realism with immersive room side images is provided by the Immersion Room.

Paul Waadevig of Frost and Sullivan said that the DVE Immersion Room has set a clear standard for the potential realism of telepresence communication.

Holographic appearing life-size images of people standing and walking about in the 3D physical space of the meeting room will be experienced by the invited guests. 9-foot wide volumetric 3D images appearing to float in mid-air will also be witnessed by the guests without the need to wear special glasses. Based on an extensive patent portfolio of augmented reality telepresence,

DVE’s Immersion Room places real-time images of people inside the middle of the room with eye-aligned cameras.

The telepresence market is predicted to reach revenues of $4.7 billion worldwide by 2014 as per a recent report by Frost & Sullivan. As per ABI Research (News - Alert), DVE has the “Best Technology” and “Broadest Product Portfolio” in the industry.
