By Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributor

Ensim (News - Alert) Corporation, a provider of change management, user provisioning and application management software, has released the BackupAgent Connector for Ensim Unify Service Provider Edition. BackupAgent was actually integrated into its Ensim Unify Service Provider product, thereby resulting in smooth operations in terms of provisioning for service providers.

BackupAgent is a European vendor of online backup software. It offers service providers with scalable and easy-to-deploy online backup software. Completely integrated with Microsoft's (News - Alert) Hosted Messaging & Collaboration, or “HMC,” platform as well as Active Directory,
BackupAgent can back up desktops, laptops and servers, including Microsoft Exchange and SQL backups.
Co-developed with Microsoft, Ensim Unify Service Provider Edition is a single, centralized software application that simplifies the process of activating, configuring and managing a service provider's unified communications and collaboration infrastructure. It facilitates service providers to centrally create, control, and deliver hosted IP and application services.
With the help of BackupAgent Connector for Ensim Unify Service Provider Edition, service providers utilizing Ensim’s Unify application will be able to easily launch online backup services using BackupAgent and provision those services.
Ensim officials said that the integration significantly shortens time-to-market as well as increases profit margins, thereby ensuring a quick return-on-investment.
Roland Sars, director of sales and marketing of BackupAgent, said that the Connector was developed due to popular demand by service providers using Ensim Unify.
“BackupAgent's tight integration with Active Directory allows the service provider to have a single sign-on for users that want to use BackupAgent in combination with other products,” Sars said.
One of the launching customers of this new BackupAgent Connector  is Outsourcery, formerly Genesis Communications, a U.K.-based provider of unified communications and hosted IT solutions for SMEs.
In the release, Mark Seemann, product strategy & development director of Outsourcery, said that Outsourcery will provision BackupAgent subscriptions by utilizing Ensim Unify Service Provider as a central provisioning platform. Moreover, Ensim Unify Service Provider enables BackupAgent to be easily sold through a reseller or distribution channel.
BackupAgent’s client software is available for both the consumer and SMB customers. Its server software should be installed in the Service Provider datacenter. Moreover, it allows service providers to create additional revenue streams with more differentiation.
