New InterCall Unified Meeting Delivers Enhanced Conferencing Capabilities

By Brendan B. Read, Senior Contributing Editor

Web conferencing has become easier to use thanks to the delivery of InterCall (News - Alert) Unified Meeting, InterCall’s new flagship product. InterCall Unified Meeting enables customers to integrate audio, Web, video, calendar systems, and instant messaging applications while offering superior global capabilities.

The new solution, a product of InterCall parent West’s recent acquisition of Genesys (News - Alert) Conferencing in 2008, has a ‘click to start feature that enables faster, simpler, and more straightforward collaboration. It can automatically dial participants in when the hosts starts the meeting, which means no more looking up dial-in numbers or logins.

Hosts can control the phone portion of the meeting using the web, which avoids the hassle of extensive telephone keypad commands. Meetings can be scheduled in Outlook or Lotus Notes for easy invitations and one-click entry.Attendees can quickly join or start online meetings with a simple click on the InterCall desktop icon in their task bars.

Using InterCall Unified Meeting, sales professionals can host product demonstrations without requiring their customers and prospects to download software. Marketers will find InterCall Unified Meeting a cost-effective way to announce new products; and project managers can bring people around the world together to give status updates and make quick decisions.

The timing of InterCall Unified Meeting could not be more opportune. Organizations, which are facing budget crunches in the tight economy, are looking at cutting business travel to save money and to boost productivity by avoiding time wasted in transit and out of the office. Reducing travel also shrinks harmful direct and indirect emissions from aircraft, driving, buses, and trains and cuts the odds of injury, death, and illness enroute. At the same time firms need to retain and enhance value-rich and results-obtaining interactions between key staff and between them and their customers and partners no matter where they are located.

“InterCall Unified Meeting gives InterCall customers a new way to increase productivity and collaboration wherever they are,” explains InterCall president Scott Etzler.

InterCall Unified Meeting came about by pairing InterCall’s global audio conferencing infrastructure with Genesys’ proprietary Web conferencing technology to expand its broad product suite. InterCall Unified Meeting offers customers an easy and simple way to share documents and software with people around the world without the need for complicated technology.

There will be more such conferencing applications going forward. InterCall plans to enhance the InterCall Unified Meeting experience with additional unified communications (UC) solutions in 2009 and beyond.

“The advent of InterCall Unified Meeting demonstrates InterCall's commitment to UC and solidifies our pursuit of UC offerings our customers care about in the future," adds Etzler. “Validating InterCall's plans, our company was recently recognized by Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) with the group's 2008 North American Award for Customer Value Enhancement for expanding its conferencing and collaboration offerings and integrating new technologies that broaden the Unified Communications (News - Alert) portfolio.”
