Ricoh (News - Alert) Americas Corporation, a provider of advanced office technology and innovative document imaging products, services and software solutions, has announced to introduce the upgrade to its ‘Software-as-a-Service’ or ‘SaaS’ (News - Alert) platform for document management, DocumentMall.

The new version, named as DocumentMall Version 9.3 is a cloud solution that helps the customers in convenient storage, retrieval, management and dissemination of electronic files and scanned paper documents. Further, it provides enterprises with a streamlined methodology for conversion of documents and information into intelligent content.

Featuring a number of new enhancements that offer advanced functionality to the users, the new version of the solution is equipped with additional options to managing the digital content in an efficient manner. It features an enhanced on-line viewer that supports various file formats and improved user performance, and enables the users to view more than 300 file formats that include text, graphic and presentation files. Additionally, the users are able to deploy the viewer developed by Adeptol for annotating files without altering the original content, which had been designed specifically for SaaS environments and utilizes AJAX technology to stream files. Using the updated viewer, enterprises can open and work with files of different types and sizes in a much more enhanced way.

Adeptol specializes in developing document viewing technology which can be embedded in any webpage or application or integrated with any system, and has offered the latest SaaS based document viewing in cloud solution that has been deployed by Ricoh Americas Corporation in DocumentMall Version 9.3.

The new version of the solution includes retention policy services as a part of the upgrade, which helps the customers in implementing automated processes for reviewing, maintaining and destroying documents. Deploying uniform policies for access and disposition, retention policy services make it convenient for the customers to comply with regulations and legal requirements, and also cuts down the risk and costs involved with document storage. The retention policy services module of DocumentMall Version 9.3 will be made available to the customers in late July 2010.

Uchida noted that the DocumentMall upgrades offer customers across many environments and disciplines a better way to handle their document management needs.

In January 2010, Ricoh Americas Corporation announced to introduce its new Aficio MP 4001/MP 5001 Series, a monochrome addition to its Aficio Series of ‘Multifunction Products’ or ‘MFPs.’ The MP 4001 and MP 5001 produce documents at 40ppm and 50ppm respectively, while offering full color and monochrome scanning capabilities.
