Sendmail, Inc. a provider of secure e-mail and messaging infrastructure has reportedly announced the introduction of its new Sentrion Application Store.

This customizable e-mail architecture solution will help enterprises select messaging applications of their choice as an add-on option for the Sentrion Messaging Processor (News - Alert) or MP infrastructure, said officials with Sendmail.

The new Sentrion App Store also allows enterprises to implement and support stand-alone e-mail products that will cater to the needs of various departments like security, compliance and marketing.

 

Sentrion customers will benefit from apps provided for message filtering, compliance polices, secure content, and other partner and community-developed apps.

Also, Sentrion’s policy engine is synchronized with the enterprise directory so users can seamlessly implement corporate policies for inbound as well as outbound messages. This helps enterprises reduce OPEX (News - Alert) costs by eliminating redundant systems and incompatible products, said company officials.

Glen D. Vondrick, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Sendmail said, “Metaphorically speaking, the Sentrion Message Processor is to enterprise e-mail what smartphones are to the individual consumer. Similar to smartphones, which have the capability to run vast numbers of apps for almost every conceivable information or entertainment need, Sendmail’s Sentrion is a platform for apps for all enterprise messaging needs.”

Vondrick also said that it is possible to utilize a smartphone for many different purposes, like a music player, a phone, a portable GPS system, a calculator, a handheld gaming device, or a television remote control. Similarly, enterprises are now focusing on using the Sentrion Messaging Platform and App Store in a multi-functional way, to simplify all their enterprise messaging requirements.
