TELUS puts a logic probe to your Facebook status with help of Leonard Nimoy

Something that made you LOL at the time, but fizzled the moment you beamed it out to your entire friends list? This Tuesday, March 29th, the future friendly telecom will launch "WWLNS? (What Would Leonard Nimoy Say?)" - a social media app on its Facebook page that's sure to engage Trekkies and non-Trekkies alike.

WWLNS invites users to submit their status to Leonard Nimoy for a more rational perspective and receive an instant video response that they can then post to their wall. Alternatively, they can choose one of their friends' highly illogical statuses and post Nimoy's response to their walls.

The social media concept was developed out of the Vancouver office of their ad agency, TAXI. The aim was to create a fun and irreverent way for people to engage with the TELUS brand.

"We've all written some cringeworthy things on Facebook without really thinking about them," says TAXI Creative Director Jordan Doucette.

"This app serves as a virtual status advisor. It's like 'Texts From Last Night' meets 'Magic 8 Ball', but instead of shaking a ball you get video from Leonard Nimoy. How cool is that?" The app comes on the heels of a TV spot, also starring Leonard Nimoy, for the introduction of Facebook on Optik TV in Western Canada. The mass advertising campaign touts the new feature as 'The Next Frontier of Social Networking,' making Mr. Nimoy a highly logical choice.
