TANDBERG Plans Interoperability with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007

By Stefania Viscusi, TMCnet Assistant Editor

In a bid to bring their standard-based products to the center of the unified communications market, TANDBERG has announced plans to make its full line of standards-based products interoperable with the newly launched Microsoft (News - Alert) Communications Server 2007.

With the interoperability, it will be possible to launch high definition video communications right from the desktop-- making it easier to incorporate the use of video communications for everyday business needs.

Not only will PC users be offered the ability to communicate with colleagues through presence and messaging capabilities, now they will also be able to have a face-to-face interaction whenever it is needed.

"I am excited about our relationship with TANDBERG for accelerating the evolution of the unified communications platform," said Gurdeep Singh Pall, vice president, Unified Communications (News - Alert) Group, at Microsoft Corp. in a statement to the press.

"Interoperability with TANDBERG is key for our joint customers and will provide high-quality videoconferencing solutions in meeting rooms and on desktops around the world," also commented Pall.

With the partnership between TANDBERG and Microsoft Corp., a complete unified communications environment is possible. Also, the inclusion of TANDBERG's video capabilities with Office Communications Server 2007 will help businesses to further streamline their communications and increase their efficiency.

"TANDBERG is fully committed to interoperability with Office Communications Server 2007," said Fredrik Halvorsen, CEO of TANDBERG. "By working closely with Microsoft, our solutions from desktop video to telepresence will broaden the value users will realize with Office Communications Server 2007."
