By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor
TEAM Polycom (News - Alert), the annual partner conference of Polycom, Inc. was held in San Diego at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina February 1-3. The event was attended by networking and communications industry leaders from around the world. Polycom delivers a fully integrated, end-to-end standards-based open collaboration network by working with its unified communications (UC) solutions partners.
According to Andrew Miller, executive vice president at Polycom, partnerships are a critical element of Polycom’s business. Miller added that Polycom teams up with its partners to integrate their systems with Polycom's Open Collaboration Network, thereby providing an interoperable UC solution that gives customers flexibility and greater return on their existing technology investments.
At the conference, Miller discussed Polycom's role within the UC market and why Polycom is well positioned to help its customers and partners streamline their businesses by collaborating more effectively than before. The conference also featured industry analyst Bob Hafner, managing vice president at Gartner (News - Alert), Inc., providing insights into the current market opportunity for unified communications and how this market is expected to evolve. The conference also showcased new solutions targeted at the general enterprise as well as tailored solutions for important vertical markets such as healthcare, education and the public sector.
Polycom will also be hosting an EXPO showcase to provide its partners an opportunity to see how Polycom's Open Collaboration Network can help grow their businesses. The EXPO showcase will include integrated customer solutions demonstrating improved productivity and enhanced ROI. Moreover, speakers Patrick Lencioni, author of eight best-selling books, and Nando Parrado, a survivor of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, which crashed in the Andes Mountains in October 1972, will address the audience.
Solutions from Polycom enable geographically dispersed workforces to communicate and collaborate more effectively and productively over distances. Moreover, the telepresence, video and voice solutions and services from Polycom enable people to connect and collaborate from their desktops, meeting rooms, class rooms and mobile settings. Organizations from different industries and the private sector work with Polycom standards-based solutions to gain a fast return on their investment, to cut the time, cost and carbon emissions associated with gathering the right people in one place to solve problems and to apply saved resources, time and energy to primary business and organizational challenges.
