TANDBERG Upgrades Movi PC Video Solution with Advanced Capabilities

December 10, 2009

TANDBERG, a provider of telepresence, high-definition video conferencing and mobile video products and services, has stated that its Movi business quality PC video solution is now available with advanced capabilities and can offer collaboration without boundaries.

Movi now delivers the total package for mobile video collaboration by coupling the ability to share content with its already best-in-class video and audio capabilities and centralized management.

According to a press release, the new capabilities add significant value to the TANDBERG mobility solution.  Movi’s new user interface makes it easier to use and more intuitive for users. However, the key enhancement is the ability to share PC content with other session participants. This new capability allows Movi users to not only participate in, but also to host high impact, rich media collaboration sessions.

Movi is a server-based video application for the enterprise market that redefines ease of use. Users can click on a link or an address to initiate video calls. All they need is a webcam, microphone, speakers and a computer with an Internet connection. Movi features one-touch installation, and IT departments can manage Movi centrally through the Web. As a centralized network device, IT departments have one appliance to manage, enabling ease of deployment.

When combined with the TANDBERG Video Communication Server Movi can seamlessly connect any PC to any other standards based H.323 and SIP video and telepresence system. And with any TANDBERG PrecisionHD USB camera, high definition 720p 30fps video for the best call experience is possible. This powerful solution can be deployed to thousands in minutes with TANDBERG’s large scale provisioning solution and extends an enterprise’s video network to enable cost-effective, easy-to-use video.

In the release, Fredrik Halvorsen, TANDBERG CEO, said businesses can no longer be limited by their office locations. Effective mobile collaboration is a necessity for decision making and responsiveness in today's economy. Movi enables people anywhere in the world to come together face-to-face using business-quality PC video while sharing content with colleagues, customers and suppliers. This allows the legions of remote and dispersed workers to become equal members of the global video community.

The University of North Carolina Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, which has deployed the Movi video solution, has acknowledged that Movi enabled physicians and patients from all over North Carolina to connect and collaborate with doctors at the Cancer Center, resulting in greater patient care.

In related news, TANDBERG’s PrecisionHD USB camera now sports 720p HD video -- and TANDBERG recently enhanced its content server with Flash for rapid content distribution.
