Basking Ridge, N.J.-based Avaya has reportedly received the “PilotHouse Award for Unified Communications (News - Alert) 2009” from Nemertes Research. The company was named the top overall provider of UC in a customer survey conducted by Nemertes Research on 1,400 customers.

Unified Communications refers to the bundling-up of voice, video, conferencing, messaging and presence applications with office and business-process applications to improve collaboration. The Nemertes PilotHouse Award winners are selected by end-user organizations that benefit from UC solutions from Avaya, Cisco, IBM (News - Alert) and Microsoft. Vendors were ranked in five categories: value, technology, customer service, integration and management tools. Avaya outdid competition in technology, integration and management tools and ranked second in value and customer service.

“Solving complex business problems requires the ability to collaborate effectively. Avaya (News - Alert) focuses solely on providing communications solutions that enable our customers to do just that,” said Alan Baratz, president of global communications solutions for Avaya. “We are extremely pleased to receive the Nemertes PilotHouse award since it means that our customers’ experience reflects the goals we set for ourselves as their trusted communications partner.”

“Implementing a unified communications strategy changes the way employees work and interact,” said Irwin Lazar, vice president of communications research at Nemertes Research. “It can increase employee productivity and revenue while lowering costs. The Nemertes PilotHouse Award recognizes that Avaya is seen as the leading strategic partner by customers to helping them move their business forward using unified communications technologies.”

An undisputed leader in enterprise communications systems, Avaya has proven track record in providing unified communications, contact centers, and related services to organizations across the globe. Over a million enterprises globally, including most of the FORTUNE 500 have deployed Avaya’s Intelligent Communications solutions for IP Telephony, Unified Communications, Contact Centers and Communications-Enabled Business Processes. Earlier this month, TMCnet reported that Avaya has introduced two new applications -- the Avaya Proactive Outreach for Financial Services and the Avaya Notification Solution -- designed to use advanced UC and customer service technologies to address urgent business and customer needs.
