Terminix Deploys Joint Brocade and ShoreTel Solution

Terminix Service has reportedly deployed a Brocade Layer 3 switching solution across all 52 of its branch office locations with a ShoreTel unified communications (UC) solution.


Among the top ten largest privately owned pest control companies in the United States, Terminix Services has 52 distributed branch locations servicing more than 200,000 customers in South Carolina, western North Carolina and eastern Georgia.

According to a press release, Terminix Services wanted to upgrade its entire internal and external customer production networks to meet communication scalability and efficiency demands as data and traffic continued to grow.

The company needed reliable communications for a distributed organization in order to provide advanced technology and consistent voice/data service level agreements to its branch offices. It needed a voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) system that helps provide business continuity.

The Brocade solution was selected because of the highly reliable communications platform that serves the company’s distributed offices seamlessly without adding cost or complexity to the network, according to Terminix.

The company reportedly selected the Brocade IP networking infrastructure and ShoreTel’s IP business phone solution to support its new UC system, enabling its field agents to improve customer service to both residential and commercial customers.

“We selected Brocade because they delivered the greatest value without sacrificing advanced technology or reliability,” said John Dorn, director of information services at Terminix Service, adding that Brocade’s infrastructure is able to provide the performance that the company was after with the ease of use and management it needed.

Brocade FastIron Edge switches with Power over Ethernet (PoE) were deployed to expand Layer 3 routing capacity and scalability in a compact platform. Brocade officials say these switches provide reliability, enhanced security, and extensive redundancy to improve the company’s operational efficiency and help Terminix respond faster to new business opportunities.

Additionally, Terminix installed the ShoreGear-40 voice switch, ShoreWare Operator Call Manager and ShoreWare Personal Call Manager to streamline both operator and personal communications.

ShoreTel’s support for Brocade’s industry standard Power over Ethernet (PoE) helps ensure business continuity in the event of a power outage.

Thanks to the deployment, Terminix has realized reduced network costs, simplified management, improved productivity, and the seamless exchange of information and communications across a distributed enterprise
