Cable&Wireless Europe, Asia & US has announced the launch of its Next Generation Network known as the Multi-Service Platform (MSP) in India. Cable&Wireless will become the first International telecom provider to receive all necessary security clearances from the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, to enable the company to launch advanced IP-based solutions delivered directly by Cable&Wireless in India.

The government now will allow multi-national and local customers to benefit from high quality Managed IP Services, such as Ethernet-based solutions, value-added communications applications, and International Private Leased Circuit (IPLC) alongside improved reliability, availability and performance, company officials said in a statement.

This in turn will set new standards for customer service experience in India. The MSP launch follows a highly successful deployment in the UK and is part of a strategic expansion of this new platform in key global regions.

Sunanda Das, Managing Director, India, Cable&Wireless said, “We’re very excited to be the first International service provider to launch our full services in India on the MSP platform. We will be able to provide resilient and flexible services to corporate India based on our robust infrastructure. This will also allow us to offer our existing global services in Indian market.”

Company officials say Cable&Wireless have invested $30 million during the last nine months in order to build the MSP network in India, forming part of the company’s core backbone which will allow connectivity to its vast global network across Asia Pacific, Europe and North America. The start of migrating customers to the new platform is being planned from February 2009 onwards.

Nick Lambert, Managing Director Worldwide and President, Asia Pacific at Cable&Wireless EAUS said, “Our mission has always been to redefine the way in which the telecom industry meets the needs of its customers. It is a central part of our strategy to remove the constraints of traditional telecoms provision to deliver the agility and flexibility demanded by our customers in todays globalize and competitive environment. The MSP offers both Cable&Wireless and our customers the ability to implement ground-breaking ideas that deliver measurable business value.”
