ADVA Optical Networking recently announced the deployment of the Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology by inexio. By deploying this ADVA (News - Alert) FSP 3000 platform based technology, inexio has successfully increased its telecommunications backbone’s transmission capacity. The deployment has also equipped it with an Ethernet-based and MultiProtocol Label Switching (MPLS)-based network that can help inexio in keeping up with the requirements of customers.

While its transmission capacity has increased from 2.5Gbit/s to 320Gbit/s, the cost of implementation and the operation of the new network increased only insignificantly when compared to the costs of the SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) connection that has earlier been leased and managed.
"The future belongs to innovative Ethernet and MPLS-based networks. We are firmly convinced of that, and our own next-generation network is a prime example," said David Zimmer, general partner of inexio.
"With ADVA Optical Networking's (News - Alert) DWDM solution, we are now able to quickly and efficiently meet our customers' growing needs for more bandwidth. What's better, our costs for the implementation and operation of the new network come to hardly more than those for the managed STM-16 lines we used to lease. ADVA Optical Networking has proven to be an extremely reliable, flexible partner. We are already planning a number of new network segments that will be deployed based on ADVA Optical Networking's solutions," Zimmer added.
Another advantage to inexio is the quick and easy implementation of the ADVA Optical Networking platform which is currently operated by the inexio staff in a hassle-free way after a few days of training. With its very own next-generation optical fiber-based telecommunications network of a total length of almost 621 miles; inexio KgaA has nodes in major cities in the southwestern parts of Germany between Frankfurt/Main, Karlsruhe and Luxemburg.
“inexio represents a new generation of alternative business carriers that opts for future-proof technologies and is very successful because of their choices," said Christian Cehovin, vice president, sales for Central and Eastern Europe at ADVA Optical Networking.
"The use of DWDM technology based on the ADVA FSP 3000 guarantees extreme scalability, reliability and efficient operation, regardless of the applications and protocols deployed. inexio customers benefit tremendously as a result," Cehovin added.
