Avistar Communications, a provider of unified visual communications solutions, has deepened its strategic partnership in Europe with City Information Services (CityIS), a global visual communications company, and has also expanded its partnership with Asia.

CityIS will become Avistar’s first global platinum level partner and is entitled to distribute Avistar C3 (News - Alert) solutions exclusively in Singapore and market the product set more broadly throughout Asia.

Avistar’s (News - Alert) C3 software solutions provide video, voice and collaboration for desktop or on the move. It uses dynamic network and bandwidth management technology without requiring additional network capacity, and offer built-in support to allow no-hassle interconnectivity with existing and external IP rich media communications systems, the company said. The software is available in editions to suit any size of enterprise.

According to Darren Innes, general manager, Worldwide Sales, Avistar, the new agreement with CityIS shows the rapid growth in the distribution of Avistar C3 around the world.

Avistar’s partners have seen C3 as a compelling offer to add to their portfolio and/or embed the technology in their own solutions.

“On the heels of our largely successful technology licensing agreements with IBM and LifeSize (News - Alert), Avistar's 2008 go-to-market strategy of partnering with leading resellers and distributors has proven itself to be a win-win,” Innes added.

According to Avistar, more than 100,000 seats are already committed worldwide over the next few years to C3 deployment.

“We are showing that the distribution of desktop videoconferencing solutions through companies such as CityIS is a success,” continued Innes. “We are delighted to have such a partner of the reputation and success as City IS, and are especially pleased with this global commitment.”

As part of the new agreement, CityIS will also offer service and support to one of Avistar's largest accounts - a leading financial services company.

“We have been extremely happy with our successful partnership with Avistar since we started working together this past July -- both in the power and value of their portfolio as well as their strong focus and commitment to partnership and joint success,” commented John N. Thompson, founder and chairman of CityIS, on the new development.

Thompson concluded by saying, “Asia is such a promising market for videoconferencing, due to the geographical spread of its companies and its many cultures and languages,” Thompson added. “We see working with Avistar as a way to open new markets for us, and we look forward to ongoing success.”
