Aastra USA has signed a partnership deal with AudioCodes to offer digital and analog gateways as part of its Clearspan solution.

The alliance is expected to help companies embrace a standards based IP infrastructure while also helping them to avoid the costs of large-scale upgrade of the existing infrastructure.

Clearspan is a new Unified Communications (News - Alert) solution based on state-of-the-art design, open industry standards and proven carrier-grade technology for large and very large enterprises. It is stated to give enterprises access to familiar PBX calling features plus advanced Unified Communications features, such as Microsoft (News - Alert) Outlook and Office Communicator integration, click-to-call dialing, simultaneous ring, and the extension of VoIP services to mobile devices.

AudioCodes (News - Alert) provides its customers and partners a flexible, comprehensive media gateway, server and processing technologies, based on VoIPerfect - AudioCodes’ core media gateway architecture.

Aastra (News - Alert) USA Inc., a subsidiary of Aastra Technologies Limited, deals in IP communications products including IP-PBX systems; standards based telephones, Unified Communications and contact center applications.

Aastra claims that this arrangement to offer AudioCodes gateways with their IP/PBX (News - Alert) solution underlines their commitment to offer customers open standards along with the flexibility and investment protection needed by them.

“The combination of AudioCodes' gateways with Aastra's IP-PBX solutions allows large enterprises to embrace an IP-based Unified Communications model to improve productivity and reduce management complexity while ensuring quality and reliability,” said Lior Aldema, vice president of Marketing and Product Management at AudioCodes. “Aastra is committed to offering smooth migration strategies to its customers to ease the transition from traditional to pure IP voice transport and AudioCodes is the premier provider of gateway products that make the transition reliable and affordable.”

AudioCodes' gateways like the Mediant and MediaPack enable connectivity from Aastra's Clearspan SIP based IP-PBX solutions to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) using digital and analog interfaces. The gateways enable rapid time-to-market and reliable cost effective deployment of next generation networks.

And Aastra says that AudioCodes’ digital and analog gateways will be helping them in easing customer transition from traditional to pure IP voice transport. The gateways make this process reliable and affordable.
