'Reinvent'-ing UCaaS with SMS Addition

If there’s one thing millennials LOVE to do, it is text messaging. And as Baby Boomers are quickly no longer the majority of the workforce, millennials are having their way.  Unified communications providers are receiving the message loud and clear, with portfolio enhancements to address this growing trend.

Reinvent recently announced the addition of SMS to its UCaaS offering. The new Business SMS service enables the ability to send and receive text messages from a smartphone, tablet or device using a cloud hosted phone number.

From a technical standpoint, the new service is empowering those on the Accession UC service to text between DIDs. The one to one texting addition to Reinvent’s private-label Unified Communications is a welcome one. Now, if a call from a supplier, team member or client comes through at an inopportune time, one can communicate via text message with a timely response.

In terms of features in the newly added service: users can seamlessly switch back and forth from IM to SMS in the same chat window; mobile phone masking; and creates a completely integrated communications  experience – voice, text and IM.

“Texting is increasingly popular with all demographics of users and adding this feature to our UC services will help businesses communicate even more effectively,” said Ray Napoletano, vice president of sales for Reinvent Telecom.

The UCaaS landscape is on the rise, and providers are pushing for market position, leveraging partners, mergers, acquisition and innovation to round out portfolios and expand presence. Reinvent is adding a critical collaboration tool to the enterprise arsenal, and making team members of all generations happy.
