The cloud era is upon us, and this transformative technology is touching all points of industry and making its presence felt in a big way. Powering our SaaS (News - Alert)-tastic reality, the cloud is opening doors to opportunity. In communications, it appears UCaaS is the current next big thing, and today the space saw a major maneuver.
Star2Star Communications (News - Alert) and Blueface announced a merger, which results in the creation of one of the top five UCaaS operation in the world. Star2Star’s North American presence coupled with Blueface’s pan-European base instantly creates a formidable pairing in a flourishing space.
“The merger of Blueface and Star2Star represents a game changing event in the unified communications as a service (UCaaS) landscape as it combines the best of proprietary UCaaS technology with an expansive geographic distribution, capability and reach. This merger positions the combined Blueface/Star2Star company as one of the leading platform and service providers that can service businesses of all sizes, partners and wholesale customers globally,” said Alan Foy, Group CEO, Star2Star & Blueface.
The new entity will be called StarBlue, with its North American headquarters in Sarasota, Florida and EMEA operations running out of Dublin. And, there is set to be a slight shakeup in leadership. Star2Star CEO Norman Worthington becomes Blueface and Star2Star Executive Chairman. Blueface CEO Alan Foy takes on the roles of Starblue Group CEO and Star2Star CEO. Nameer Kazzaz and Sergey Galchenko will serve as Co-CTOs for the newly formed organization. And, Michelle Accardi, John McGovern as well as David Portnowitz will see expanded roles across the group.
Norman Worthington, Executive Chairman, Star2Star & Blueface noted, “The merger of our two companies is a fine example of how two businesses with a similar entrepreneurial culture can work together to challenge the marketplace with an unrivaled full spectrum offering ranging from hybrid to hosted with an array of value added features and services. This merger of Star2Star and Blueface creates a combined company with the breadth of capability, reach and innovation to be a true global leader in the UC space.”
UCaaS is taking flight, and as such service providers seek to expand portfolios and presence. This merger represents a sign of the times, as some facilitate growth via acquisition, while others seek the type of synergy fit for a merger. The power of cloud compels you!
