Switzerland's Sunrise Extends AudioCodes Partnership

December 19, 2017

Sunrise Communications AG of Switzerland is employing the AudioCodes One Voice portfolio to power its Microsoft Skype for Business UC solutions.

“The rapid rise in popularity of unified communications services in general, and Skype for Business in particular, in Switzerland meant that we needed a reliable, experienced partner to supply essential voice infrastructure elements,” said Robert Wigger, chief business officer at Sunrise, an operator and system integrator in Switzerland. “AudioCodes represented the perfect answer to our needs with a broad, field-proven portfolio of products and solutions capable of handling virtually any customer deployment, whether on premises or cloud based.”

Sunrise is using the AudioCodes Mediant CCE Appliance, media gateways, and session border controllers. This new deal also covers IP phones, and a centralized device and network management solution.

The Mediant CCE Appliance provides on-premises voice connectivity for Skype for Business Online customers. The Mediant media gateways and SBCs enable seamless connectivity between legacy on-premises PBXs, IP PBXs, the PSTN, and SIP trunks. The IP phones are Microsoft certified and high definition. And the management solution features real-time voice quality monitoring.

“Our One Voice offering is designed to ensure smooth and rapid deployments of voice services for Microsoft Skype for Business UC environments and will continue to do so as Skype for Business transitions to Microsoft Teams,” says Nimrode Borovsky, vice president of global marketing at AudioCodes.

Microsoft recently announced plans to replace Skype for Business Online with Microsoft Teams. The company has not yet offered a timeline for that. However, in a late October blog, the company encouraged “all customers who have not yet done so to start using Teams today, either stand alone or side-by-side with Skype for Business.”
