Axtel Deploys AudioCodes' Mediant SBC

The communications needs of governments and enterprises, as well as consumers and small businesses, is now in great part delivered through digital services. This has made it possible for individuals and small organizations to access enterprise grade solutions, and for enterprises to scale as needed without the limitations of legacy systems. Mexico's Axtel is improving its unified communications (UC) and SIP trunking service infrastructure by deploying AudioCodes (News - Alert) Mediant session border controllers (SBC) so two of its brands, Alestra and Axtel, can better serve their customers.

Axtel is an information and communications technology company serving enterprises, governments and residential markets in Mexico. It has a portfolio of services which it delivers through two of its brands and a network infrastructure of more than 40,000 km (24,854.8 mi) of fiber, and over 7,000 square meters (75,347.3 square feet) of data center space.

This massive infrastructure is looking to deploy a robust communication solution capable of supporting the millions of customers in Mexico. For Axtel (News - Alert), the solution was AudioCodes’ Mediant SBC.

AudioCodes’ Mediant 9000 is a high-capacity SBC for large deployments offering comprehensive security, interoperability and reliability. The platform features scalability options to tens of thousands of SBC sessions and extensive SIP mediation capabilities supporting remote workers and mobile SIP clients.

The security protocol of the Mediant 9000 has perimeter defense against denial of service, fraud and eavesdropping threats to ensure the protection of each communications session. Quality is ensured with VoIP monitoring and enforcement to ensure branch survivability during WAN failure with active/standby high availability.
