Jabra (News - Alert) is one of those companies whose name is immediately associated with a particular product. In this case it is the futuristic and ergonomically designed headsets the company makes. While the headsets are synonymous with hands free operations for mobile phones and music players, the company has been making inroads in the unified communications (UC) segment. But not everyone likes to use a headset, and Jabra has decided to address these customers with the new Jabra Handset 450, which is now available at IP Phone (News - Alert) Warehouse.

IP Phone Warehouse is an online reseller of VoIP technology for IP phones, IP-PBXs, video conferencing equipment and more. The company announced it has started offering the Jabra 450 handset for UC applications.

This might seem a like a dramatic shift for Jabra by manufacturing a handset, but if you take a closer look at the product, it has the functionality of a Jabra headset in a large form factor.

As with all other Jabra products, it has an eye-catching design that is ergonomic along with the functionalities that is required in the UC environment.

The handset is a wireless phone with Cisco certification and Microsoft (News - Alert) Skype for Business compatibility. It easily integrates into UC platforms allowing user to answer calls in Skype just like a call on a regular phone. And when you are done, it is as simple as putting the receiver back in its place. But it also has features like Jabra headset used for smartphones, such as a built in noise-cancelling technology and integrated wideband audio. With these two features in place, users can talk in a noisy environment with an expanded range of the audio transmission.

Jabra is known for its audio quality, and this handset has HD voice with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology for clear sound without distortion, even at the maximum volume level of the handset.

The 450 uses DECT (News - Alert) (digital enhanced cordless telecommunications) standard, which gives it a range of 20m/66ft from the base. In addition to longer range, the DECT technology also has a stronger security protocol compared to regular cordless phones, but Jabra extended the security feature by physically pairing the handset with the cradle. This means if another handset tries to communicate with the cradle, it won’t be able to do so.

The handset has a rechargeable battery with 10 hours of talk time and 120 hours of standby time and all it takes to get it going is connecting the base to a computer through a USB port and the plug-and-play capability takes care of the rest.
