Capita recently launched a cloud-based unified communications (UC) system designed to help businesses make their communications more efficient. Known as Capita Unified Communications (News - Alert) in the Cloud (CUCC), the service supports a mobile workforce and provides the usual benefits, such as scalability and reduced labor costs that come with cloud-based systems.
London-based Capita provides IT and communications services in the cloud. Businesses can not only get UC, but also take advantage of outsourced IT, security, intelligent building technology, contact centers, and end user services.
CUCC runs on Cisco’s (News - Alert) Hosted Collaboration Solution (HCS), which provides secure collaboration for public, private, and hybrid cloud environments. The platform provides communications that better meet the needs of modern businesses, whose employees are not limited to doing all their work at a desk in a cubicle.
According to GlobalWorkplaceAnalytics.com, the U.S. workforce is becoming more mobile. Half of the workforce holds a job that supports telework and about 20-25 percent takes advantage of that opportunity with some frequency. The overwhelming majority of the workforce (80-90 percent) wants to telework about two or three days each week.
Businesses not only need to reach teleworkers, but also employees out in the field, those working from branch or satellite offices, and business partners. Communications solutions must also support a variety of mobile devices.
The only sensible way to meet these requirements is with a hosted solution like CUCC. It allows businesses to not only meet the needs of a workforce with no limits on its location, but it also protects them from the cost and inconvenience of hardware and software upgrades. Businesses can continue to operate in the event of natural or man-made disasters that would leave a conventional cut off from communications and its ability to operate.
One of the findings of GlobalWorkplaceAnalytics.com was that many employees sought the proper mix of collaborative and concentrative work that traditional office environments failed to accommodate. There is a time to meet with others and then there are times when you need to be away from the usual office distractions to focus.
Solutions like CUCC let employees have the best of both worlds, while allowing businesses to save money on labor and installation costs that come with non-cloud systems. It is win-win for everyone involved.
