Fostering collaboration and a high-quality end user experience is becoming paramount in the unified communications (UC) world. Nectar (News - Alert) Services Corp., which has been in the business since 2007, has seen the market transform over the past few years with emphasis shifting to a world of geographically dispersed remote workers.

TMC CEO Rich Tehrani sat down with Thomas Tuttle, vice president of Microsoft (News - Alert) Practice for Nectar, at the recent ITEXPO Anaheim 2015 to discuss some of the trends in UC services and technologies. Nectar focuses on developing advanced software solutions for monitoring, managing and diagnosing issues in the UC marketplace.

“If you’re not able to quickly identify where issues are, you have problems that persist,” said Tuttle of the UC services landscape. “What we have found and seen a shift in is trying to drive out as far as possible to that endpoint to identify issues.”

Nectar’s Unified Communication Management Platform (UCMP) examines at all components in the UC delivery landscape, including switches, SBCs, gateways and firewalls, to assess and diagnose issues. The offering is geared toward service providers and MSPs and works with Skype for Business, Avaya (News - Alert) and Cisco UC solutions. The key benefit is a single UI that enables service providers to monitor and manage all clients and tenants simultaneously.

Tuttle said the company wants to take things a step further with their platform, expanding it to offer real-time remediation of issues before they become a problem and impact quality of communications. For now, the company goes to market mainly through a vast network of channel partners, including VARs and distributors.

Just this week, Nectar announced a deal with Japanese distributor Star Systems Corporation to be its exclusive UC network monitoring and application performance management solution provider. The move will give Star’s clients access to Nectar’s UCMP offering to assess network performance in real time.

“With the recent launch of Skype (News - Alert) for Business we are seeing unprecedented demand in the market for mature service offerings to support clients and drive the greatest productivity improvements from the Skype for Business platform,” said Victor Shvetsky, CEO of Star Systems.
