Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) (SIP) trunking gives organization a powerful next-generation IP based communications solutions linking PBXs in multiple locations with each other and the public switched telephone network (PSTN). This technology gives large organizations the ability to replace ISDN PRIs (Primary Rate Interfaces) and traditional lines, which can be very expensive to purchase, maintain, and upgrade. With SIP trunking, organizations can reduce costs while handling any volume of call with many more communications options.

Ingate Systems (News - Alert), a developer of secure Enterprise Session Border Controllers (E-SBCs) and firewall technology to enable global SIP firewalls, and ThinkTel, a provider of advanced communications services including enterprise-grade SIP trunking, have concluded their successful interoperability testing of the Ingate E-SBCs and ThinkTel’s (News - Alert) SIP trunking service.

The combination of these technologies will get rid of many of the complexities associated with the infrastructure and network customers use with a fast and simplified installation by solving many of the interoperability issues between the ThinkTel service and equipment on the premises. This integration also includes Ingates’ proven security features with advanced enterprise class security for ThinkTel’s SIP trunk traffic.

Some of the features of the ThinkTel solution include: up to 8 IP addresses per SIP Trunk for built-in redundancy; codec support for G.711, G.726, G.721, and G.729a/b; fully redundant class 4/5 core switching powered by Metaswitches; directory listings for all DIDs; Certified with Cisco CallManager and UC 520/540/560PBX's; and Certified directly with Microsoft OCS R2 and Lync.

The Ingate SIParator E-SBCs can be used with ThinkTels’ solutions for Microsoft Lync allowing unified communications solutions including SIP trunk telephony and remote PBX (News - Alert) users over the Internet. The SIParator connects to an existing network firewall to allow SIP communications seamlessly without blocking SIP traffic like traditional firewalls. This technology solves this problem by ensuring applications such as Voice over IP (VoIP) work along with installed security solutions.

"Ingates’ solutions help us to ensure that customers realize the many benefits of SIP trunking. The SIParator has a long track record of proven deployments. For us, Ingate solves a number of deployment issues and expands the reach of our solutions," said Dave Damer, founder and president of ThinkTel.

"We are proud to work with ThinkTel in offering SIP trunk solutions that address the critical security needs of their customers and that simplify deployments," said Steven Johnson (News - Alert), President, Ingate Systems.
