Recapping the headlines this week in unified communications, the UC market showed a dip in the first half of 2013 despite its rising popularity. According to the report, worldwide revenue for enterprise PBXs fell by 9 percent in the second quarter as compared to the same period in 2012, reaching $1.81 billion.

“Slower demand and competitive pricing pressure delivered a one-two punch to the enterprise PBX market in the first half of 2013,” said Diane Myers, principal analyst for VoIP, UC and IMS at Infonetics Research (News - Alert), the report noted. “The slight recovery we saw late in 2012 hasn’t extended into the current year. Telephony spending remains stagnant as businesses rely on existing solutions.”

Other headlines this week tell us that TrackChat partnered up with SkyDesktop, a collaborative effort that aims to address the needs of knowledge, skills and management competencies to help businesses stay ahead and meet their goals.

“First impressions are the most important tool that a small business has,” said Siamak Farah, CEO of InfoStreet (News - Alert). “SkyDesktop and TrackChat make it possible for business owners everywhere to build strong relationships right from the first point of contact - when a customer lands on that company’s home page.”

TrackChat is now offered with SkyAppMarket – more over at the full report.

In other UC news, Damaka launched Twinkle SDK for mobile iOS and Android (News - Alert), a service aimed at helping mobile developers with enhance applications with In-App Mobile UC experience and VoIP calling.

“Millions of users worldwide will benefit from the enhanced productivity that Twinkle SDK offers. With built in scalability, Twinkle Service delivers the best calling rates and enables users to place calls to any phone in the world,” said the company.

According to the report, developers can now integrate presence, instant messaging, audio, video, and VoIP calling features into their own products using Twinkle SDK.
