ShoreTel (News - Alert) a provider of unified communications platforms such as business phone systems, applications and mobile UC solutions, has unveiled the ShoreTel Mobility 7 software.

David Petts, senior VP of worldwide sales at ShoreTel said, “Our channel is a buzz of excitement with the customer interest in ShoreTel Mobility and the ShoreTel Dock. With our latest software release, resellers can deliver a fantastic and intuitive experience for end users and IT administrators alike.”

“As a result, customers are able to integrate leading smartphones and tablets securely, simply and cost-effectively into existing enterprise communication applications and infrastructure to provide greater flexibility and increased productivity,” Petts added.

The new release features unified communications (UC) capabilities along with a redesigned user interface and integration that will enhance workforce productivity for iPhone and Android (News - Alert) users. Users will be able to convert their iOS smartphone or tablet into a desk phone by using the ShoreTel Dock facility of the ShoreTel Mobility 7 solution.

The Today screen feature can integrate with the native calendar on Android and iOS platforms while the ShoreTel mobility client can show conference calls on the mobile user’s calendar. This enables one click access to Web and audio conferences. The “Join” feature allows the dialing of specific conference call numbers.

ShoreTel Mobility 7 can integrate with ShoreTel conferencing, which will enhance audio and visual participation. When a conference session is launched the “Call Me” option opens ShoreTel Mobility. On clicking the link, the ShoreTel conferencing app is launched.

The personal dial feature allows non-business calls to be placed using the cellular caller ID via the ShoreTel Mobility app. This also eliminates the need to switch back and forth between voice apps. Per-call selections can be made from a drop down menu which allows options like personal caller ID, Wi-Fi or cellular, said officials.

Recently ShoreTel announced a technical partnership with the Williams F1 Team to provide a unified communications and collaboration platform across its enterprise. ShoreTel will provide its unified communications solutions across the full breadth of the Williams organization, including the Formula One team and Williams Advanced Engineering, as well as integrating communications within the team’s on-track activities at races around the world.
