Tata Communications (News - Alert) has accomplished a unified communications implementation for KPIT Cummins. The multi-technology deployment is comprised of network consolidation, business video and managed voice services. KPIT Cummins now has novel levels of unified communication and enterprise mobility due to the technology revamp. KPIT Cummins will therefore be able to fulfill the needs of the growing mobile and geographically distributed employees.

"Our priority is to empower our geographically dispersed employees with a seamless unified communication experience that boosts productivity and enables better customer experience,” said Mandar Marulkar, head of IT infrastructure, systems and chief information security officer at KPIT Cummins. “Bringing data, voice and video onto a single network, coupled with the deployment of business video tools such as private telepresence facilities has really made a difference to our operational efficiency resulting in improved customer satisfaction."

KPIT Cummins has chosen Tata Communications as its lone connectivity associate for both domestic and global Multi- Protocol Label Switching and 100Mbps Internet connectivity with dual last-mile resiliency. With a strengthened network, KPIT Cummins can accomplish the highest uptime and simplify communications among its employees, customers and offshore development centers.

"By consolidating its connectivity infrastructure, KPIT Cummins has improved the availability, capacity, performance and management of its network,” said John Hayduk, CTO and president of Tata Communications. “Coupled with our managed voice and telepresence deployment, an improved level of integrated communication and collaboration now underpins all its business activity. Through our experience of delivering centralized IP voice and data services worldwide, we deployed this complex project in less than three months enabling KPIT Cummins to focus on its core business while reaping the rewards in record time. Unified communications is becoming more and more central to business operations and we are proud to be at the heart of making this a reality for KPIT Cummins."

The implementation of eight private telepresence rooms, and multiple video clients across employee laptops and tablets, has resulted in improved international association. KPIT Cummins will save a minimum of 20 percent in communication and travel expenses with this business video plan. Tata Communications has also deployed an International Private Leased Circuit or IPLC voice network along with audio conferencing services.
