As the unified communications space continues to expand in terms of users and capabilities, Mobile World Congress (News - Alert), an event now underway in Barcelona, is being held in order to bring together technology visionaries from around the world who can examine and exhibit brand new products, make deals, network, collaborate and talk about current trends going on in the industry. Keynotes and panel discussions will also be taking place at the not-to-miss conference, enabling attendees to keep up with the ever-change mobile landscape.

An integral component of mobility is unified communications. This next generation platform is revolutionizing the way people communicate for both personal and business use, giving them access to invaluable tools including video/audio conferencing, instant messaging, intelligent presence and VoIP among others.

Officially kicking off today, MWC 2012 has already brought to light new game changing innovations to the UC space. Some of these include: Aptina debuting its 1080p Full HD Mobile Sensor, GENBAND ‘s intuitive mobility solutions as well as its partnership with Samsung, Polycom RealPresence Mobile 2.2 App, and Siemens Enterprise (News - Alert) Communications alliance with Airwatch to debut Mobile UC.

Looking first at Aptina’s Mobile Sensor, the product is touted as boasting 1080p video as well as an assortment of features that are helping the company to measure up to increasing demands seen from smartphones, tablets and TV monitors.

“The AR0261 captures native 1080P full HD video (16:9 aspect ratio) or 720p HD video at speedy rates of 60fps for smooth video playback, encouraging an immersive viewing experience. Smartphone users running video applications will benefit from the image senor’s built-in video resolution and dynamic range capabilities. MobileHDR technology increases dynamic range to maintain image sharpness and compensate for motion, meaning subjects can sit inside a room with challenging lighting such as a bright window lighting a low light room without having the subjects faces darkened during a video conference chat. The end result is crisp, clear images and videos across varying lighting conditions. Not only is the users’ video experience more pleasing, the sensor employs a new design architecture that enables the fast speed while promoting low power for longer battery life as demanded by most portable electronics,” according to company statement.

Next, GENBAND ‘s intuitive mobility solutions are helping to make networks much more intelligent via enabling both network operators and enterprises alike to develop and manage their own network by taking advantage of the cloud. NUViA is a secure multimedia communications cloud comprised of Unified Communications (News - Alert)-as- a-Service (UCaaS) offerings such as HD voice, video, multimedia messaging, mobility, conferencing, Web collaboration, desktop clients, and fixed and mobile convergence. On the other hand, the company’s SMART EXPERIENCE solutions have been created to help mobile operators expand their footprint while simultaneously driving revenue and the overall customer experience.

Further, the strategic alliance just inked between GENBAND and Samsung will help to improve the security of Samsung for Enterprise devices alongside GENBAND’s SMART OFFICE and SMART HOME mobile Unified Communications (UC) applications, NUViA and GENBAND’s SMART EXPERIENCE, SMART EDGE and SMART CORE solutions.

“Seamless mobile integration into the enterprise and home is a major initiative for GENBAND and we look forward to demonstrating a range of powerful smart network solutions at MWC, including our recently announced alliance with Samsung Mobile to deliver the next wave of disruptive, innovative mobile UC technologies,” said Sam Waicberg, chief marketing officer at GENBAND. “Equally powerful is our NUViA cloud Rich Communications Suite (RCS) offering, which enables wireless operators to quickly bring to market extensive multimedia communications services and experiences that go well beyond standard RCS capabilities. Beyond our SMART OFFICE and SMART HOME solutions, we will be unveiling breakthroughs across our SMART EDGE and SMART CORE solutions.”

Moreover, the Polycom RealPresence Mobile 2.2 App will bring video conferencing to an unparalleled level. This application will let users interact with one another from anywhere and at anytime. Some of its key features include: the ability to control Polycom systems via an Android (News - Alert) tablet, the reduction of TCO, and content sharing via a tablet during a video conference. This offering can dramatically improve communications amongst a geographically separated workforce.

Lastly, Siemens Enterprise Communications (News - Alert) along with AirWatch revealed that they will be participating in MWC 2012 to showcase UC solutions, OpenScape Mobile and OpenScape Web Collaboration, as well as the Enterasys Mobile IAM solution that comes complete with AirWatch mobile security, device management and application management functions.

When traveling to number 3B34 in hall three, visitors will be able to view in person how the OpenScape Mobile Solution can improve user productivity and allow companies to embrace increasingly popular trends like BYOD while remaining fully protected.

That is just some of the unified communications-related news now circulating the Web from MWC 2013. Be sure to stay tuned to TMCnet for continuous updates on latest and greatest products debuted at this exciting event!
