'Send Word Now' Communicated Well During Hurricane Sandy

January 29, 2013

When Hurricane Sandy struck the northeastern United States in October of 2012, it devastated many areas, leaving residents without power. Businesses suffered huge losses as many of them couldn't handle the situation and were unable to send out the necessary alerts.

However, the global advertising agency network McCann Worldgroup, which used Send Word Now's alerting platform, was able to send out critical messages to its employees, noted officials.

Communication is critical during an emergency especially when an event has the potential to affect millions of people. Send Word Now reportedly allows rapid dissemination of news and instructions to be sent to the affected regions.

More than 600 McCann and McCann Worldgroup company employees were able to receive the messages sent to their work and personal e-mail accounts as well as to landline and cellular phones. Officials noted that employees were happy that they had a choice of how to receive the messages that the company sent out, and were full of praise for the instantaneous alerting that Send Word Now was capable of.

Over the course of the week following the hurricane, the company used the easy-to-use Web-based emergency notification service daily to update employees regarding the anticipated severity of the storm and also give information about when business operations would resume.

"As a New York City-based company, we understand the devastation that was brought upon the region by Super storm Sandy. While many businesses have returned to normal operations since then, the effects of the storm are still palpable. We will continue to do everything we can to help our customers maximize their recovery efforts during this difficult time," noted Tony Schmitz, president and CEO at Send Word Now.

Proud to have been able to support the McCann Worldgroup's hurricane response efforts, the Send Word Now leadership team was complimented on its ability to have 'communicated well.'

Send Word Now, the worldwide provider of emergency notification and on-demand alerting and response services, announced that it ranked 399 on Deloitte's (News - Alert) Technology Fast 500 a ranking of the 500 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and clean technology companies in North America. Send Word Now grew 186 percent from 2007 to 2011.
