Real Time Logic Joins Hands with Green Hills Software

December 03, 2012

Embedded developers these days are expected to develop dynamic, data-rich connected devices that are smart as well as secure, despite limitations of minimal resources. This consequently leads to decreased time-to-market and increased developmental cost.

Catering to the needs of embedded developers seeking a comprehensive suite of Web solutions that can be integrated into an advanced real-time operating system (RTOS), Real Time Logic, a provider of Web application tools for embedded systems, has collaborated with embedded software solutions’ independent vendor Green Hills Software to provide an integrated solution to both the company’s mutual customers.

Under the terms of this partnership agreement between Green Hills Software and Real Time Logic, all of Real Time Logic's products will be ported to and available for Green Hills Software's RTOS, INTEGRITY.

Being the first and only operating system to be certified by NIAP (National Information Assurance Partnership comprised of NSA & NIST) to EAL6+, Green Hills Software's INTEGRITY is a secure RTOS ideal for use in embedded systems, such as mobile devices, avionics, industrial control, automotive electronics, networking gear and medical devices, which require maximum reliability.

Instigating strict adherence to provable resource requirements, the INTEGRITY RTOS facilitates an embedded system designer to guarantee resource availability. In addition, it does not sacrifice real-time performance for security and protection.

With this collaboration, Real Time Logic's Web application development tools, including its Barracuda Application Server, are fully integrated and available for use with Green Hills Software's INTEGRITY RTOS. In turn, Real Time Logic's Web protocols will facilitate users of INTEGRITY-based devices to develop secure, full-featured, interoperable-networked services.

Consequently, this integration offers fast, graphically rich and interactive Web applications customized for security and safety-critical, resource-constrained devices targeting industrial control, military and medical. Accordingly, development and production costs reduce and time-to-market improves.

The Real Time Logic products are now available directly from Green Hills Software pre-integrated and validated with the INTEGRITY real-time operating system.

This integration now includes Barracuda Application Server, Barracuda Web Server, SharkSSL SSL/TLS client/server, PikeHTTP client, and Micro Server.

As a flagship product of Real Time Logic, Barracuda Application Server bundles all the tools required for Web server development, connectivity and security. It provides a complete suite of embedded Web application tools for device Web server development, connectivity and security.

Wilfred Nilsen, chief executive officer, Real Time Logic, said in a statement, "This partnership enables our mutual customers to develop dynamic, data-rich, connected devices that are smart and secure. Our Web application development tools running on the industry's most reliable and secure operating system delivers the resources to fast-track development of demanding device-based web applications whether they involve machine-to-machine or human-to-machine data exchange."

Real Time Logic's current family of development tools apart from the Barracuda Application Server includes Barracuda Web Server, SharkSSL embedded SSL/TLS library, PikeHTTP client and Micro Server. These tools help developers build device-oriented and secure remote application and management systems.

Building A Business Case For Unified Communications

The hype surrounding any emerging technology often shrouds the private sector with mixed feelings, as decision-makers try to decipher whether new offerings will enhance operations, hinder productivity or introduce some bizarre mixture of the two.

Instant Cashflow Improvement and Rapid ROI with Unified Communications

The up-and-down economy of the past several years has highlighted the need to operate more effi ciently and cut costs wherever possible. In most situations, these two notions would seem contradictory, but a number of emerging technologies - cloud computing, virtualization and the bring-your-own-device movement among them - are helping companies accomplish these goals.

The Top Four Pitfalls of Unified Communications

Today's enterprise needs to be agile if decision-makers wish to remain competitive and relevant in the eyes of consumers. As more companies and customers around the world begin leveraging innovative devices like smartphones, tablets and next-generation laptops, the need to deploy unified communications grows alongside it. Neglecting to implement the technology may result in dire consequences that could spell the end of an organization.
