On September 6th, Avatier (News - Alert) Corp, a provider of identity access management software announced the amalgamation of its Identity Enforcer user provisioning module with Microsoft Lync 2010. The merging of the two technologies allows Identity Enforcer to automate Microsoft Lync user provisioning and de-provisioning of Active Directory accounts, an act that minimizes risk while boosting workflow.

Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync is known for its efficient delivery of unified communications solutions to modern organizations through a single familiar user interface on which users can monitor their contacts’ availability, send IMs, make phone calls, start or join audio and initiate video or web conferences. The major setback, however, is that manual provisioning and de-provisioning of active accounts is prone to errors hence introducing operational inefficiencies.

The Identity Enforcer module from Avatier comes in handy in patching this “bug.” The tasks are automated thereby ensuring human errors do not creep in. The constant availability of this software leads to a tighter control on provisioning and de-provisioning of users for organizations using Microsoft Lync hence focusing on risk free operations.

Commenting on the amalgamation, Nelson Cicchito, chairman and CEO, Avatier, admitted that, "In the past year, Microsoft Lync has emerged as a popular intra-company communications tool. Although its merits have proven valuable, it also introduces risks that can threaten an organization's overall security and efficiency."

Cicchito added that the integration of Avatier’s module with Microsoft Lync, shows the company’s “commitment to creating innovative and feature-rich solutions that mitigate risk, improve operational efficiency and relieve pressure on IT staff.”

It is with no doubt that the improvements that the Identity Enforcer module has brought to Microsoft Lync are bound to strengthen the respect accredited to Avatier. Avatier has a reputable portfolio with several major achievements in the engineering of identity and access risk management softwares. For instance, Avatier is the inventor of the first world business catalogue taking the form of an IT store with automated workflow. This and other innovations represent the quickest time to value and operational efficiency courtesy of its use of graphical configurations and complex coding and scripting.
