As the summer comes to a close, it’s business as usual here in unified communications. Let’s look and see what happened with UC news this week.

It’s hard to turn to the news and not see all the political recaps of the GOP and DNC events that happened recently. In technology, it spans beyond our television sets, as video chat has made its foray into the political conventions.

Paltalk (News - Alert), a video chat service, allowed members access to “be” at the conventions through its Web portal.

Gary Baumgarten, news and programming director at Paltalk, went live each day from 5 p.m. EST until the final gavel at the Republican and Democratic national conventions.

Read about how their services played a pivotal role at each via the full report.

In other headlines, Cleversafe, Inc. has chosen IOCOM's collaboration solutions to provide its employees a communication platform to collaborate among themselves more efficiently.

According to the report, with a need for better communications and collaboration, IOCOM’s Visitmeet allows employees to access to four new conference rooms in three locations, as well as multiple desktop users for full and inclusive visual collaboration.

"More and more of our customers are looking for enterprise class video collaboration solutions with the ease of implementation and use through the cloud," said Tim Hackett, CEO at IOCOM. "Visimeet helps create the image as if all meeting attendees are in the same room and we're excited to provide Cleversafe with the tools that allow them to easily meet and securely share data."

In TMCnet news, the Votela CEO will speak at the Cloud Communications Expo and ITEXPO (News - Alert) next month in Austin, Texas.

Adam Cole will deliver two speeches at these events, the first of which is “Building a Strong Basis for Unified Communications (News - Alert) in the Cloud,” to discuss how to prepare to use cloud services while still making the most out of existing equipment and solutions.

Cole will also deliver “Leveraging Cloud Solution in a Service Broker Model,” held on October 4. He will provide an overview of how innovative cloud brokerage technologies affect various cloud services in regards to costs, management and control.

Both sessions can be registered for now through TMCnet’s registration page. See the full report for further details on Cole’s presentations and how to secure a seat.

That closes up another week in unified communications news here at TMCnet. Be sure to visit the Unified Communications portal for more news on all things UC.
