Vidyo (News - Alert) Inc., a pioneer in personal telepresence, will be showing off some of its products in booth #2530 at VMworld 2012 in San Francisco. The event runs until Tursday, August 30.
Products to be showcased include the currently available VidyoRouter Virtual Edition (VE), along with VidyoDesktop running on VMware View, which will get a full technology demonstration.
VidyoRouter VE provides enterprises and service providers with high-quality video transmission up to 1440p as well as deployment flexibility. As such, the product can enhance a provider's ability to deliver natural video communications optimized for desktop, room and mobile devices at price points comparable to Web conferencing.
"Virtualization enables efficiency, cost saving and new deployment capabilities," Ashish Gupta (News - Alert), CMO and SVP of Corporate Development at Vidyo, said in a statement. "With support for VMware environments, Vidyo brings increased quality and value to end-users and IT departments by delivering a multimedia solution that is truly scalable and supports a variety of firewall solutions, devices and wide area networks requirements including those for branch offices and small businesses."
While traditional video conferencing solutions often rely on proprietary hardware to perform transcoding for multipoint video calling, Vidyo's software solution can do this without processor-intensive transcoding, according to Ira Weinstein, senior analyst and partner at Wainhouse (News - Alert) Research and author of a recently published white paper, "Multipoint Videoconferencing Goes Virtual.”
Vidyo's broadcast division, VidyoCast, was recently awarded the IBC Innovation Award Shortlist honor in the "Content Delivery" category.
Last week, Vidyo announced, along with Mitel and VMware, that the three companies are teaming up to deliver an integrated video conferencing solution which enables collaboration over any medium. This joint solution aims to solve performance and resource issues related to voice in VDI solutions. It is said to come complete with Mitel's (News - Alert) virtualized Unified Communicator (UC) Advanced client software along with video conferencing with VMware View.
